1989 has become the fastest-selling album in more than ten years. Swift's latest album has already passed $5 million in sales in the United States. 1989 features the hits, "Shake it Off," "Bad Blood," "Blank Space" and "Style."

Billboard reported that 1989 has been on sale for 36 weeks and crossed the $5 million mark on July 5th. This is the third album from Swift to reach over $5 million in sales, her Fearless album has sold over 6.95 million copies and her self titled debut sold 5.52 million to date.

1989 has also spent 36 consecutive week on the Billboard Top 10 charts.

The last artist to also reach this record breaking accomplishment was Usher back in August of 2004 with his album Confessions. Confessions crossed that landmark after 19 weeks of being on sale.

Swift is currently on tour in support of her 1989 album and has been making stops in the United States, Europe and Japan.
