Popular film & TV series get a makeover at theaters this week. The Griswolds are back on the road in a new version of a classic 1980’s comedy. Meanwhile, Ethan Hunt goes out on another death-defying mission.

Ethan Hunt is on a mission to keep terrorists at bay in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. In the PG-13 adventure, the IMF faces new enemies and joins forces with a British agent with questionable loyalties. The action film stars Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Ferguson, Alec Baldwin and Ving Rhames. It’s running in conventional and IMAX theaters for two hours and eleven minutes.

A new generation of Griswold’s go on a family trip to Wally World in Vacation. Hijinks ensue as they travel across country in their new Albanian van in an attempt at family bonding. The one hour and thirty-nine minute comedic adventure stars Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Leslie Mann, Chris Hemsworth, Beverly D'Angelo, Chevy Chase, Skyler Gisondo and Steele Stebbins. It’s rated R for sex, language and nudity.

A Rolling Stone reporter joins novelist David Foster Wallace on the road for five days for an interview in The End of the Tour. Following the release of Wallace’s hit Infinite Jest, the men travel around the country, spending the days navigating each other’s personalities. The one hour and forty-six minute drama is based on David Lipsky’s diary, entitled Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself: A Road Trip with David Foster Wallace, in which he shares his experiences from the never published interview. The biopic stars Jason Segel, Jesse Eisenberg, Joan Cusack and Anna Chlumsky. The limited released drama is rated R for language and sex.

A man manages his grandmother’s estate following her death in Two Step. As he settles her finances, he discovers that she was scammed by a man pretending to be him. He soon comes face to face with the man who stole his grandmother’s money. The unrated thriller is running in limited theaters for one hour and thirty-four minutes.

The effect a childhood toy has had on pop culture is displayed in Lego A Brickumentary. The famous buildable bricks have been transformed to many things by all types of people from children to artists and even scientists. The G-rated documentary is playing in limited theaters for one hour and thirty-two minutes.

The documentary Best of Enemies highlights the rivalry between two politicians, conservative William F. Buckley Jr. & liberal Gore Vidal. The presidential candidates battled it out in a wild, televised debate at the Democratic National Convention in 1968. The film is running in limited theaters for one hour and twenty-eight minutes. It’s rated R for sex, nudity and language.

Get an inside look at funnyman Chris Farley from his friends, family and colleagues with I am Chris Farley. The one hour and thirty minute documentary shows the rise and fall animated of the comedian through interviews and archival footage. The unrated film is playing in limited theaters.

Popular film series came back into theaters this week with the release of Vacation and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. On August 7, favorite comic book characters join the box office race with the release of Fantastic Four. The animated film Shaun the Sheep, Meryl Streep’s Ricki and the Flash and Jason Bateman’s thriller The Gift also enter theaters next week.
