Just after the release of the Toronto International Film Festival line-up, the Venice International Film Festival made sure that it was not left out of the discussion. The world’s oldest international film festival - which will be celebrating its 75th year in September - announced its line-up today. As usual, the films will bring countless stars to Venice.

Many of the films that will be screened at TIFF will also be present in Venice. This includes Tom Hooper’s The Danish Girl with Eddie Redmayne, the Netflix-distributed Beasts of No Nation from director Cary Fukunaga and star Idris Elba, and Scott Cooper’s Black Mass with Johnny Depp as Whitey Bulger.

The opening film of the festival will be the all-star disaster movie Everest, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Jason Clarke. It will be screened out of competition, along with Black Mass, Amy Berg’s Janis Joplin documentary and Noah Baumbach & Jake Paltrow’s De Palma documentary. Spotlight, Tom McCarthy’s film about the Boston church sex abuse scandal with Michael Keaton, will also be screened out of competition.

Of course, there are also highlights from the in competition line-up. Beasts of No Nation and The Danish Girl will both compete for the Golden Lion, along with Equals, which stars Kristen Stewart, notes Deadline. Remember with Christopher Plummer, which will be shown in Toronto, also got a competition slot.

The Venice film festival runs from Sept. 2 to Sept. 12.
