Although the first teaser for Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs didn’t show us much about the new film on the Apple co-founder, the first full trailer certainly does. With Aaron Sorkin’s trademark rapid-fire dialogue and a performance from Michael Fassbender, it looks it will definitely be an awards contender.
Fassbender doesn’t look much at all like Jobs, but the trailer proves that he understands the part and can play the late tech guru in three periods of his life. The script for the film, written by Sorkin and based on Walter Isaacson’s biography, focuses on three different Apple product launches and we get glimpses of each in the trailer.
It opens with Steve Wozniak (Seth Rogen) asking Jobs what exactly it is he does. “How come, ten times in a day, I read Steve Jobs is a genius?” Wozniak asks.
“Musicians play their instruments,” Jobs responds. “I play the orchestra.”
The rest of the cast includes Kate Winslet, Katherine Waterston, Jeff Daniels, Sarah Snook and Michael Stuhlbarg. The film, which will be released by Universal after Sony bungled it, hits theaters on Oct. 9.
