Rock group Wilco has a new album and the band is offering up their latest work for free.

Wilco is offering their latest studio effort, Star Wars, through their website. The album features 11 new songs and is over 34 minutes long. Wilco hasn't released a full studio effort since 2011's The Whole Love. This is the shortest album that the group has released but this album takes on a different feel compared to other releases. It has a heavy rock influence but also feels modern and sparse.

The band addressed the question about why they would release an entire album for free on their Facebook page.

"Why release an album this way and why make it free? Well, the biggest reason, and I'm not sure we even need any others, is that it felt like it would be fun. What's more fun than a surprise?" Jeff Tweedy, frontman for the group, explained.

Wilco really wanted to have a fun surprise for fans and this is a way to give back to them.
