“I guess I never explained why I left,” Malik wrote. “It was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who I really am! #realmusic #RCA”
The singer also shared a picture of him signing his new contract with RCA, which shows Malik flashing the camera a big smile mid-signing.

Malik announced he would be leaving the band back in March, claiming that his change of heart came from wanting to be “a normal 22-year-old.”
“I’d like to apologize to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart,” Malik explained in an official statement. “I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.”
Since parting ways with the band, Malik has made it no secret that he has been working on some new music. A leaked version of Malik doing a cover of Rae Sremmurd’s “No Type” was released back in June, sending the Internet into frenzy over Malik’s new music ventures.
We’re excited to hear the “real” Zayn Malik and his new music.
