After helping to bring one super strong hero to the silver screen, Thor writer Christopher Yost has been hired to help tackle another hero. He will write a new draft of Sony’s long-gestating plans to reboot Masters of the Universe and He-Man.

Yost’s hiring was first reported by Variety. He will rewrite a script that has also been handled by Terry Rossio (Pirates of the Caribbean) and Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2). The film is being produced by Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch of Escape Artists.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe debuted as a cartoon series that ran from 1983 to 1985 and accompanied by action figures. Dolph Lundgren played He-Man in the 1987 movie. The story is set on Eternia, where Prince Adam can become He-Man to fight Skeletor and conquer Castle Grayskull.

In 2009, there were reports that Warner Bros. was working on a reboot of Masters of the Universe, but that never happened. Since then, the project has moved to Sony.

Yost is currently working on Thor: Ragnarok for Marvel and co-wrote Thor: The Dark World. His resume features a long list of Marvel animated TV projects since 2003.
