Just three years after suiting up as Spider-Man, Andrew Garfield was replaced by Tom Holland in the upcoming Marvel films, and the actor has finally weighed in on the whole situation.

According to ET Online, Garfield praised the young actor and said he's looking forward to his performance as Spider-Man.

"It feels lovely, especially because Tom Holland is a really, really great actor," Garfield said. "He was in this movie The Impossible and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor."

But how does Garfield feel about leaving Spider-Man behind? The actor said he's just looking forward to being a fan again rather than bearing the weight of the franchise.

Tom Holland was cast as Spider-Man back in June, as we previously reported, after Sony sold the rights to the character back to Marvel Studios. Holland will be debuting in Captain America: Civil War next May, followed by a solo movie in 2017 directed by Jon Watts.

Sony would have probably never sold the Spider-Man rights had the last few films not been such a disappointment at the box office, but both Amazing Spider-Man movies grossed less than the Tobey Maguire ones. The most recent film grossed just $202 million domestically. For comparison, Marvel's movie about a talking tree and a raccoon grossed $333 million.

Captain America: Civil War opens on May 6, 2016.
