A Baltimore man who was known as the “Baltimore Batman” has passed away after being hit by a car on the highway.
WBFF reported that Lenny Robinson had been driving in the fast lane on I-70 when his Batmobile broke down on Sunday night, reportedly due to engine trouble. The 51-year-old was checking his engine when a driver in a Toyota Camry struck his car and Robinson. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota was not injured.
Robinson, who was President of a company known as Superheroes for Kids, Inc., gained notoriety when a viral video of a traffic stop showed him in getting pulled over while driving his Batmobile. He did not have proper tags for the vehicle.
According to the Baltimore Sun, the accident occurred at around 10:30 pm. Robinson often would visit children in hospitals while wearing his Batman costume.
The Washington Post reported that he would visit sick kids and give them gifts, such as books and toys and he once said that he was “just doing it for the kids.”
