Columbus Short has been short on success lately, since leaving ABC’s Scandal, and couldn’t even perform his new music without an incident. The actor was arrested by bounty hunters Tuesday night just before he was set to perform at Infusion Lounge at Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles.
TMZ obtained video of the incident, showing him arguing with a bounty hunter since they scared him. After all, they were carrying guns and wearing padded vests.
Short’s rep told E! News that the 32-year-old actor was not arrested on an outstanding warrant, but due to a dispute with his bail bondsman.
“"It appears that this is a citizens arrest as a result of an issue between Mr. Short and his bail bondsman. The report bail amount of $500,000 is also inaccurate. No additional information is available at this time,” Short’s rep said.
Short was held on $250,000 bail and was in court Wednesday morning.
The actor has had a string of legal problems lately. In March 2014, he faced felony battery charges stemming from a Los Angeles bar fight and he was arrested for public intoxication in July 2014. A bench warrant was also issued for Short in October 2014 when he didn’t make a court hearing on the battery charges for the bar fight incident. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
Short was on Scandal from 2012-2014 and was last seen in the film The Girl Is In Trouble.
