Dr. Dre has dropped his much-anticipated new album Compton and said that he will donate the royalties to a youth center in his hometown, which the album is named after.

The rapper, whose real name is Andre Young, announced the news on Thursday when he appeared on Apple's Beats 1 radio show.

"I reached out to the Compton mayor's office, got in touch with the mayor, Aja Brown, and I've decided to donate all of my artist royalties from the sale of this album to help fund a new performing arts and entertainment facility for kids in Compton,” he told host Zane Lowe.

As we previously reported, the album is inspired by and is the soundtrack of the upcoming NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton.

This is the first album the 50-year-old has released in 16 years. He has been keeping busy running Beats Electronics and working with fellow rappers Eminem and Kendrick Lamar.

The movie Straight Outta Compton hits theaters on Aug. 14.
