Pixar has made a number of animated shorts based on their feature films as with Toy Story, and now they'll already be giving Inside Out the same treatment. You won't even have to wait very long to see it, either.
Pixar unveiled a clip from their new short, Riley's First Date, on Good Morning America. In the clip, which takes place one year after the events of the film, Riley prepares to go on a date with the boy she bumped into at the hockey game in the movie.
We also see a bit more inside the mind of Riley's parents, something we only got a glimpse of briefly during the feature film. Inside Out ended in a really interesting place with the emotions having a better understanding of themselves and preparing for Riley's puberty, so this short should be an interesting place to pick that up.
Although it would make sense to show this short before one of their upcoming films, Pixar will actually be including it on the blu-ray release of Inside Out, which comes out on November 3. The entire voice cast is returning including Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling, Phyllis Smith and Bill Hader.
In addition to being one of their best reviewed films, Inside Out has become one of the highest grossing in Pixar's history, already taking home $336 million domestically. That's second only to Finding Nemo ($339 million) and Toy Story 3 ($415 million).
