Johnny Depp, Joe Perry and Alice Cooper are serious about their Hollywood Vampires supergroup, which will also include former Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum. The group will perform on the Sunset Strip this September, just after releasing their album.
Cooper announced the project in February, confirming that they will perform at the Rock In Rio Festival in Rio de Janeiro on Sept. 24. Now, Rolling Stone is reporting that they have added two more dates.
They will perform at the famous Roxy nightclub on the Sunset Strip on Sept. 16 and 17. Tickets will go on sale Friday on Ticketfly and the shows will be the group’s only U.S. performances. Cooper guitarist Tommy Henriksen and bassist Bruce Witkin will join them.
The group’s name is inspired by the actual “Hollywood vampires,” a group that included John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Keith Moon and others who would go out drinking at the Rainbow on the Sunset Strip during the mid-’70s.
Their self-titled album will be released on Sept. 11. Other stars appearing on the album include Joe Walsh, Slash, Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl and AC/DC’s Brian Johnson. The tracklist, which Rolling Stone posted last week, includes covers of “My Generation,” “Whole Lotta Love,” “One,” “Jump Into The Fire,” “Come And Get It,” “Cold Turkey” and “Manic Depression.”
Proceeds from the album will go to the charity MusiCares.
