Lawyers for convicted Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev have requested a new trial for their client to be held outside the city of Boston.

Reuters noted that in court papers filed, attorneys asked that Tsarnaev be given a new trial and that it be held in a new venue.

The 22-year-old’s lawyers have previously said that they did not believe their client could get a fair trial in the city where the bombing occurred and tried unsuccessfully to have the trial moved.

"A new trial in a different venue is required due to continuous and unrelenting publicity combined with pervasive connections between jurors and the events surrounding the Boston Marathon bombing that precluded impartial adjudication in both appearance and fact," the 39-page filing said.

As we previously reported, Tsarnaev was found guilty on charges related to the 2013 bombing that killed three people and injured more than 260 others. He was sentenced to death and is currently being held in a “Supermax” unit at a prison in Colorado.
