An Oklahoma official was stabbed to death at a restaurant on Sunday evening and his son is the prime suspect.

The Associated Press noted that authorities were called to Braum's restaurant in Oklahoma City around 6:30 p.m. to find Labor Commissioner Mark Costello, 59, with several stab wounds to his head and neck.

KFOR reported that witnesses were able to subdue Costello’s son, Christian Costello, 26, until help arrived.

“They tied him up with belts and they were able to keep him under wraps until police got there,” said witness Patrick Spencer.

He was then arrested in the parking lot and taken into custody.

The elder Costello was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His son has been charged with first-degree murder.

Costello became Oklahoma’s labor commissioner in November of 2010. Prior to becoming the state’s first elected commissioner, he founded the telephone software company AMCAT along with several other technology companies.

He was married with five children.
