A brand new Prince album is coming exclusively to Tidal next month.
According to Rolling Stone, The Hit & Run Album, stylized as HITNRUN, will be released on September 7. The album's first single "HARDROCKLOVER" was released in July on Prince's SoundCloud page.
In May, Prince's Rally 4 Peace concert in Baltimore was streamed on Tidal, the music service co-owned by Jay Z.
"After one meeting, it was obvious that Jay Z and the team he has assembled at Tidal recognize and applaud the effort that real musicians put [into] their craft [to] achieve the very best they can at this pivotal time in the music industry," Prince said in a press release for the album.
Prince teamed up with Tidal after the service offered his team a "non-restrictive arrangement" that allowed them to "continue making art in the fashion we've grown accustomed [to] and we're extremely grateful [for] their generous support."
The process of recording and preparing for the release of HITNRUN only took 90 days.
"If that's what freedom feels like, HITNRUN is what it sounds like," Prince said.
"Prince has always been a visionary, a free-thinker. We're honored to offer his breadth of work, 1999, Purple Rain, etc., music that has inspired so many, on Tidal," Jay Z said. "Both Prince and Tidal share the believe that all creatives should have the opportunity to speak directly to those that love and support them. This partnership with Prince represents Tidal's philosophy in its truest form, a 1 to 1 connection and direct delivery of artistry to the world."
According to CBS News, Prince pulled his music from all streaming services — except Tidal — in early July.
