Four-star wide receiver recruit and son of rapper Snoop Dogg, Cordell Broadus, has decided that he longer wishes to pursue a career in football.
The news was first reported by Bruin Report Online and then confirmed by the school’s head football coach.
“Cordell informed me yesterday that he has decided to pursue other passions in his life — in particular his love of film through his company Film School Productions,” coach Jim Mora said in a statement. “Cordell is an amazing young man with many talents, and we wish him nothing but the best as he continues to pursue his degree at UCLA.”
Broadus committed to the school in February; choosing UCLA over his father’s beloved USC. However, InsideSoCal.com noted that he never reported to camp, which Mora said was due to a “personal matter.”
UCLA is the same school where another famous rapper’s son plays football. Justin Combs, son of Sean "Diddy" Combs, is the Bruins reserve cornerback. His father made headlines after he was arrested in June for allegedly attacking strength coach Sal Alosi with a kettlebell.
