Starbucks has confirmed the company will start using real pumpkin in their popular fall beverage, pumpkin spice lattes, starting this upcoming season.
The official Twitter page for the latte shared a link to the coffee chain’s big announcement.
Last year, blogger Vani Hari called for Starbucks to reveal all ingredients in the pumpkin spice latte. When she found out the drink had no real pumpkin it and caramel coloring instead, she called for a change.
“After hearing from customers and partners about ingredients, we took another look at this beverage and why we created it so many years ago,” Starbucks said.
“It was simple - espresso, perfectly steamed milk, warm fall spices with delicious flavor of pumpkin pie that reminds you of the cool, crisp days of autumn. So, with that great taste you know and love, the PSL returns this fall, and this time it will be made with real pumpkin and without caramel coloring.”
They also shared the modified recipe for the PSL, which is milk, espresso, pumpkin spice flavored sauce, whipped cream, Starbucks vanilla syrup and the pumpkin spice topping (cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg and clove).
