An American family moves to Asia and finds themselves in the center of a political revolt in No Escape. As the world around them begins to crumble, they must do whatever they can to survive. Pierce Brosnan, Owen Wilson and Lake Bell star in the one hour and forty-one minute thriller. The film is rated R for violence and language.
A group of party promoters and DJs aim for the high life in We Are Your Friends. In the film, a wannabe DJ struggles to find the hit song that will make him big. He reaches out to an older DJ to be his mentor and, in the meantime, falls for his girl. Zac Efron, Wes Bentley and Emily Ratajkowski star in the Max Joseph (MTV’s Catfish) directed film. The drama plays for one hour and thirty-six minutes. It’s rated R for language, drugs, sex and nudity.
With humanity facing extinction after a nuclear war, a young woman thinks she may be the only survivor in Z for Zachariah. Alone for a long time, she is euphoric when she comes across a scientist in the woods. The two form a special bond which is put to the test when another man crosses their path. The PG-13 drama stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Chris Pine and Margot Robbie. It’s running in limited theaters for one hour and thirty-five minutes.
A promising politician finds himself in hot water in Zipper. His aspiring political career and family life begin to fall apart after one night with an escort leaves him wanting more. The one hour and forty-three minute dramatic thriller stars Patrick Wilson, Richard Dreyfuss, Lena Headey and Dianna Agron. The limited released film is rated R for sex, nudity, language and drugs.
A mischievous slacker gets a job at a car repair shop in 7 Chinese Brothers. Despite not having any car skills and having to deal with angry customers and co-workers all the time, he actually enjoys going to work because he’s falling for his boss. Jason Schwartzman and Olympia Dukakis star in the unrated comedy. The one hour and sixteen minute film available in limited theaters.
Prayer makes a difference in War Room. The PG drama shows a marriage in trouble and how faith and the willingness to make it work can change the course of a struggling relationship. The unrated film is playing in limited theaters for two hours.
There is a lot of action in this week’s new films. On Sept. 4, the clashes continue with Transporter Refueled and Dragon Blade.
