Since Zac Efron only makes one kind of movie these days - raunchy, R-rated comedies - it doesn’t seem too crazy to think that the Baywatch movie will be transformed into a raunchy, R-rated comedy.

The actor, who officially joined the project earlier this week, told Reuters at the London premiere for We Are Your Friends that the movie isn’t going to be exactly like the TV series that aired from 1989-2001.

“It's going to be R-rated and it's going to be badass,” Efron told Reuters Tuesday.

The Baywatch movie will pair Efron with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Horrible Bosses’ Seth Gordon is directing. Damian Shannon and Mark Swift wrote the most recent drafts of the script and shooting should start early next year.

"I think we're going like pretty big with it and I don't think it's going to be much like the old Baywatch to be honest. I think we're going to kind of reinvent it in a big way, and he has big plans for it. I know he's very ambitious,” Efron said of his co-star.

Efron also confirmed the casting on Twitter:

Efron has a long list of movies in the works, including Bad Grandpa with Robert De Niro, Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. We Are Your Friends is out on Aug. 28.
