Pink is denying she was trying to start a feud with Demi Lovato and other artists who performed at this year’s VMAs after Lovato responded to Pink’s reaction of the award show on Twitter.

On her personal Instagram page, Pink wrote she was “embarrassed and sad” over the show, writing, “Music is supposed to inspire. It saved my life. This trash won’t save any kids life.”

She said she felt this way about everyone who performed except for Tori Kelly, Macklemore, Pharrell and Justin Bieber (“pre-sobfest”). So that leaves Demi Lovato in the group that Pink categorizes as “trash.”

The “Cool For the Summer” singer took to Twitter to reply, “Cool For The Summer may not ‘save kid's lives’ or ‘inspire’ but I'd say Skyscraper & Warrior have done a pretty good job of helping people cope with mental illness. VMA's are sexy and fun. There's a time and place for everything.”

However, Pink didn’t back down from what she said and accused Lovato of looking for a fight where they was none.

“Please look for a feud elsewhere,” she wrote. “I have no issue with Demi Lovato or anyone else. I actually forgot she performed. I have opinions. MANY.”

She added, “I stand by what I said. However, I didn't intend for the angry people of the world to latch on and make it into something it isn't.”

Later she added that this culture is “part of why” she said she was “sad” about the VMAs. “Everyone is so nasty and waiting for a fight,” she wrote.
