Producer Andre Salamán Bautista, who goes by the stage name Andre Bauth, has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly trying to kill his roommate.

Bautista, who has won a Daytime Emmy for his work on the online soap opera The Bay, was also charged with assault with a deadly weapon for stabbing his roommate, Clayton Haymes, 23, at their Studio City, Calif. apartment.

According to LA Times, Bautista got very angry when Haymes and others laughed when he told them he would someday win five Oscars.

“When he said ‘five Oscars,’ we all just kinda laughed a little bit, and he got really upset,” Haymes told CBS Los Angeles. “I just don’t understand why he would want to do this to me ‘cause we’re friends.”

He added, “I just saw a different person that night, and I’m just scared that I’ll see that person again.”

Bautista plead not guilty in court on Monday in a Van Nuys, Calif. courtroom. He faces a maximum of 13 years in jail and is currently being held on a $550,000 bond.
