Country music icon Kenny Rogers will be retiring from music but not before completing an expansive worldwide tour.
Rogers announced the news while appearing on The Today Show last week. "It's happily sad or sadly happy. I'm going to do a big worldwide tour, and it's going to be my last. I'm going to say goodbye at that point; I've done this long enough. There's a fine line between being driven and being selfish, and I think I crossed that line when I was younger," said Rogers.
The reason behind the retirement is that Rogers wants to spend more time with his family and has a few bucket list items he wants to check off his list. The "Gambler" singer has five children, including 11-year-old twin sons, Jordan and Justin.
He was appearing on the show to talk about his latest Christmas album, Once Again Its Christmas. This is his sixth holiday album. Before the farewell tour starts, Rogers will be performing shows in support of this album. Those shows kick off on November 12th at Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
Additional details regarding the farewell tour have not yet been released.
Rogers has had a career spanning 65 years and recently was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
