While nearly everyone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is slated to appear in Captain America: Civil War in some capacity, the status of Bruce Banner/The Hulk remained a mystery. That is, until now, since Mark Ruffalo explained what his character is doing in the new movie.
And the answer to that mystery is... nothing. ComingSoon.net reports that, during an interview with BadTaste.it, Ruffalo said that we will not learn The Hulk’s fate after his disappearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
“The reason is too great to be revealed in this movie,” Ruffalo said. “I was in the script but then they removed my character. They don’t want to reveal where is he and why. I don’t even know if Hulk will be back soon.”
Back in June, Ruffalo made it sound like he was going to be in Civil War, but obviously, he has learned more details since then. And his absence from Civil War might mean that we won’t see The Hulk until 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War - Part I, since there are no plans for a new solo Hulk movie.
Ruffalo can be seen in the awards contender Spotlight, which just debuted at the Venice Film Festival. The movie is about the team of journalists who uncovered the Boston Catholic Church sex abuse scandal.
