Aiden Wright found a blank check book on a slide Sunday morning in Salem’s Memorial Park. He opened it up and found $8,000 in it, he told CBS Boston. He showed the money to his uncle and the two decided to go to police with their discovery.

Salem Police Sgt. Kathleen Makros confirmed to the The Associated Press that Aiden and his uncle, Daniel Wright, did return the money at 11 a.m. Sunday.

The police quickly found out that the money belonged to Elias Sandos, a contractor who was just paid.

“I am so grateful because we don’t have people like this no more,” Santos told CBS Boston.

Santos decided to give Aiden a $100 reward. Aiden plans on using the money to buy coins.

“We go to Sunday school and he’s been taught to do the right thing. This shows the lessons had been learned and we are so proud,” Aiden’s mother Ellen told CBS Boston.
