Jackie, who is known for writing romance novels, lost her six year battle to breast cancer at 77 years old. In a statement to People the Collins family said, "It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful, dynamic and one of a kind mother, Jackie Collins, who died of breast cancer today.”

“She lived a wonderfully full life and was adored by her family, friends and the millions of readers who she has been entertaining for over 4 decades,” the statement read. “She was a true inspiration, a trail blazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words.”

Jackie’s sister, actress Joan Collins, paid tribute to her on Twitter.

One of the British writer’s most popular series was about Hollywood, and included “Hollywood Wives,” “Hollywood Wives: The New Generation,” “Hollywood Husbands and “Hollywood Kids.”

We interviewed Jackie in 2000 when she released a CD to accompany her latest novel.

There will be memorial service for Jackie in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
