Here’s a useful public service announcement. If Patti LaBelle ever invites you on her stage, never - and we mean never - start taking your shirt off. It’s a really bad idea, as one fan learned on Friday during her Vancouver show.

While performing “Lady Marmalade,” LaBelle had invited a fan on stage to dance with her. He decided to unbutton her shirt, which is when LaBelle stopped singing to lecture the fan about how she is not “Nicki Minaj or that little Miley.” He then decided to show his butt to LaBelle, and that’s when the singer, 71, really teared into him.

“Get off my goddarn stage, bitch!” LaBelle yelled at him. Then, a security guard pushed the fan off the stage, as you can see in the TMZ video.

LaBelle wasn’t done though. She stopped singing and gave a speech about how she believes in second and third chances, which is why she didn’t get the man off stage sooner. There were other fans onstage behaving (or at least keeping their clothes on) and they also got an apology.

“The devil was here about 20 minutes ago, and I saw it, I tried to block it,” LaBelle said, notes Gawker. “I’m so sorry you heard me say a bad word. I’m so sorry. I’m a Gemini and things come out of my mouth sometimes that I try to control.”

Weirdly enough, this was similar to a 2007 incident at a Kansas City concert, where LaBelle got angry with another fan she brought on stage during “Lady Marmalade.” He was dancing too close for her comfort and was also yelled at. The man stayed at the show and later received an apology from LaBelle.

So, maybe the real lesson here is for LaBelle. You shouldn't invite fans on stage to dance with you during "Lady Marmalade" because you never know what they will do.
