Vice President Joe Biden has yet to enter the 2016 race for the Democratic nomination, but played the part of a Presidential hopeful during a Labor Day visit with Pittsburgh’s steel workers.
Watch: Vice President Joe Biden's Labor Day Speech
Speaking in front of hundreds of union members, Biden remarked that the gap between the wealthy and poor was hurting the nation, stating, “The tax code’s not fair. It’s simply not fair.”
According to the New York Times, chants of “Run, Joe, run” emerged from the crowd as the vice president spoke at the Labor Day rally and jogged his way through the annual parade.
As verbal encouragements rang throughout the rally and parade, Biden repeatedly responded with words of gratitude but revealed nothing about what he may do.
“I gotta talk to my wife about that,” Biden remarked when a steelworker yelled out: “Run for president!” at the end of his speech during the rally.
The 72-year old Biden has kept mum on a possible Presidential campaign, but has indicated that he will make a final decision later this month.
Last week, Biden stated that the deciding factor in his decision was whether he and his family had the “emotional energy" to run.
As Biden ponders a late entry into the 2016 Democratic presidential campaign, his bid could jumble an unpredictable Democratic contest that has seen underdog Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) close the gap to the frontrunner, Hillary Rodham Clinton, in several key early states.
