Rachel McAdams has reportedly confirmed herself that she is starring in Marvel’s Doctor Strange, which will star Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role.

McAdams told TheWrap the news at the Toronto International Film Festival, where her new film Spotlight is being screened.

This doesn’t come out of nowhere. Back in July, the blog Heroic Hollywood reported that McAdams was offered the female lead role in the film.

Doctor Strange won’t start filming until November, a year before it is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 4, 2016. It is being directed by Scott Derrickson and will introduce movie audiences to the supernatural corners of the Marvel universe.

In addition to Cumberbatch, the film also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo and Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One. Mads Mikkelsen is reportedly being considered to play the villain.

McAdams was last seen on TV in True Detective’s second season and on the big screen in Southpaw. She also starred in Cameron Crowe’s Aloha. As for Spotlight, that film hits theaters on Nov. 6.
