Now that it's officially heading into production early next year, Ridley Scott has given Prometheus 2 an official title.

Ridley Scott revealed in an interview with HeyUGuys that the movie will be called Alien: Paradise Lost. Wait, what? How confusing is that? Apparently the Prometheus sequel won't even be using the Prometheus name at all, and that title makes it sound like this is a sequel to Alien instead. Why not just call it Prometheus: Paradise Lost?

To make matters more confusing, there actually is a proper Alien sequel coming out soon. Neill Blomkamp is directing an official fifth movie in the Alien franchise which will star Sigourney Weaver, as we previously reported. Up until now, it's seemed like they would be approaching Prometheus and Alien as two separate franchises that happen to share the same universe, but this name makes it sound like Scott and Blomkamp are just both developing Alien sequels independently.

Not only that, but Scott is actually planning several sequels to Prometheus, recently saying that the two franchises would cross over with one another by Prometheus 4. The Alien series seemed to be pretty much dead as of five years ago, but now Scott has at least four more of these on the horizon.

Prometheus 2 begins production in early 2016.
