Selena Gomez is currently on a promotional tour for her upcoming album, Revival and is opening up about life in the recording studio, body shaming and her recent weight gain.
During an interview with Power 106 Los Angeles, Gomez explained that she has experienced intense body shaming during the past year and how that inspired her album cover. The Revival album cover shows Gomez looking very natural and topless. "You have to understand that I dealt with a lot of body shaming this year and I've never experienced that before. I don't care about that stuff, but I did start gaining weight, and I didn't really mind it...Man, that hurt. That was really hurtful," explained Gomez.
She said that once the album comes out, the focus will be all on the music. "I really trusted people and they heard me. They were really understanding that I was fed up with everything. I was crying in the studio. Then I was happy in the studio. I recorded the best songs of my career in the studio. It was such a time for me to explore who I am," she said. "That was really important. I think that's why we called it Revival. It's the first song on the album."
As previously reported, Gomez is also hosting a fan event in preparation for Revival. The event will be taking place on Sept 16th.
