In her new memoir Jewel opens up about her relationship with Sean Penn, something the public knew nothing about until now.
Jewel, now 41, recounted how Penn first noticed her when her career was just beginning after she appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
The “Save Your Soul” singer said that her TV debut was around the same time that the actor had split from Robin Wright.
Jewel said Penn wanted her to write a song for his movie The Crossing Guard. She agreed and a romantic relationship soon followed.
"I enjoyed Sean and would eventually fall in love,” the songstress wrote.
Their romance eventually ended and Penn married Wright. However, the two divorced in 2010.
As for Jewel, she married rodeo rider Ty Murray, but they separated last year.
She shared the news with fans on her blog writing, “My husband, friend and partner of 16 years and I have decided to get a divorce.”
