Olivia Jackson, a British stuntwoman who has worked in some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters, was seriously injured on Saturday while filming Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Jackson, 32, hit a metal camera arm while filming a high-speed chase. According to The Guardian, she might have been without any protective gear at the time.
She is currently in a medically induced coma. She suffered head injuries and a punctured lung. The incident is currently being investigated.
A source told The Sun that the camera had malfunctioned, which caused it not to raise when it was supposed to. “She had no chance,” the source said. “She is a lovely lady, the most generous person you could ever meet.”
Her husband, stuntman David Grant, has joined his wife in South Africa. He wrote on Facebook that Jackson is “fighting hard and the team of people working on Olive have been amazing and have been doing some incredible work.” He added that she is “making steady progress.”
Jackson, who was born in South Africa, is a prolific Hollywood stuntwoman, working on Mad Max: Fury Road, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Mortdecai and Cinderella. She’s also worked on and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
