The Who have been forced to postpone the remaining dates on their planned North American fall tour. They are hoping to reschedule every single date for spring 2016.

Earlier this month, singer Roger Daltrey contracted a mysterious illness, forcing the group to postpone the first four dates of the tour, which was supposed to start this month. The group also cancelled their appearance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.

Today, the legendary rockers announced that Daltrey’s doctors have diagnosed his illness as viral Meningitis and was told to rest. THey had “no alternative but to postpone” the rest of the tour.

“We are very sorry to disappoint our fans in this way,” Daltrey, who is very sad that the illness will force them to miss the Teen Cancer America benefit in Los Angeles, said in a statement. “For the last four weeks, I have been in and out of the hospital and have been diagnosed with viral Meningitis. I am now on the mend and feeling a lot better but I am going to need a considerable time to recover. The doctors tell me I will make a complete recovery, but that I should not do any touring this year.”

Guitarist Pete Townshend, the only other surviving original Who member, also offered an apology to fans. “Once Roger is completely well we will come back stronger than ever and Roger and I will give you all a show to remember,” Tenschend said.

The Who was on their The Who Hits 50! tour to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The fall tour was supposed to start on Sept. 14 in San Diego and wrap up on Dec. 13 in Oakland.
