Tiger Woods announced that he underwent a second microdiscectomy surgery on his back.

Via his website, tigerwoods.com, Woods announced that he underwent the microsurgical procedure, which is supposed to relieve pain from a pinched nerve, on Wednesday in Park City, Utah.

The surgery was performed by neurosurgeon Dr. Charles Rich, who called it “a complete success.”

Woods has pulled out of the events he planned on playing this year, and likely will not return until early next year.

While the 14-time major champion remains one of the greatest golfers to ever play the game, he has not won one of golf’s four biggest events since winning the 2008 U.S. Open, according to Yahoo News.

Despite winning over 100 events worldwide throughout his career, Woods has not won an event since the 2013 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.

"I appreciate the fans' concern and support," Woods said. "This is unfortunate, but these things happen. I've been injured before and played again. It won't be any different this time."

In recent years, the once dominant golfer has struggled with injuries and confidence issues. This past season, Woods played in only 11 events, missing cut four times and withdrawing once.

The former number one in the world has dropped to 283rd in the world rankings.
