Universal might not want to hear this, but Vin Diesel sees an ending to the Fast & Furious franchise. At least for the studio, he sees the series ending with three movies, not just one.

In a Facebook post on Friday, Diesel wrote that he and his producing partner, Neal Moritz, have talked to Universal about the end of the F&F series, He has promised them that there will be three more movies to follow the incredible success of Furious 7.

“Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision... they have been like family... I promised the studio I would deliver one last Trilogy to end the saga.”

Diesel also wrote that no one has been offered to direct Fast & Furious 8 yet. This appears to be in reference to a report last week from The Hollywood Reporter, which claimed that Universal is struggling to find a new director since F7 director James Wan is busy with other projects. Justin Lin is also unavailable.

THR also claimed that Diesel made things difficult on the set of F7. Diesel didn’t address that claim and shrugged off the idea that he has the right to refuse a director.

“My producing partner Neal would love for me to just sign off on a director, but this is too special a franchise, so these matters have to be very carefully handled,” Diesel wrote. “To be clear, NO ONE has been offered to helm Fast 8 yet... let alone seen a script.”

Diesel ended his note by promising a director announcement in his next Facebook post.

Universal has scheduled Furious 8 for April 14, 2017.
