Authorities have said that one person was killed and three others were wounded in a shooting at Northern Arizona University.
The school announced on its social media pages that shots were fired around 1:20 a.m. Friday near Mountain View Hall. The three survivors were taken to a local hospital for treatment and the suspected gunman is now in police custody.
Sen. John McCain released the following statement after the news broke:
“My thoughts and prayers are with families of the person who was killed and the three others who were wounded in the horrific shooting on the campus of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff early this morning. I appreciate the efforts of all state and local law enforcement officials, first-responders and school administrators, and continue to pray for the recovery of the injured, as well as all those in the NAU community who have been impacted by this terrible tragedy.”
This news comes eight days after another fatal shooting took place at a community college in Roseberg, Oregon. Ten people, including the gunman, were killed then.
Police have said that further details about this shooting will be given at a press conference on Friday morning.
