The Red Hot Chili Peppers have stepped away from the spotlight, but lead singer Anthony Kiedis hinted that the band's break could be coming to an end soon.

The group will be performing at the annual Silverlake Conservatory of Music, a non-profit organization co-founded by Chili Peppers bassist Fela. The organization helps put music back into schools. This annual event is an exclusive gathering of around 300 guests.

The event, which takes place on Saturday evening, will feature an acoustic set by the Chili Peppers and a headlining performance from John Legend, notes NME.

Kiedis spoke to Rolling Stone about playing the event and the possibility of new music coming soon from the group.

"It's shocking and wonderful how supportive musicians and artists are in contributing their time and their art promoting the act of children learning music," said Kiedis. "The torture about doing this [show] is that we've been writing new music for the last year, and we’ve written some songs that I feel are as good as any songs we’ve ever written. We’re just dying to play the new songs — but we can't, because every single human has a recording device on them at all times."

The band started working on the new album in May 2014.
