Actor Anthony Mackie got Twitter’s attention on Monday by saying that he would rather work for Donald Trump’s campaign than Hillary Clinton’s. Some assumed that it meant he was endorsing The Donald, but he cleared the air on Twitter Monday afternoon.
As previously reported, the Our Brand Is Crisis actor told BET.com that he thinks Trump would host “the best party ever” if he won the Oval Office.
“When you look at Trump, he’s an easy sell because you can sell him as the guy who worked his way up from nothing. And I think if you’re a ‘pull yourself up by your bootstraps’ candidate, people would identify with that,” Mackie told BET.com. He then added that he is “drinking the Kool-Aid” and that he’s on the Trump bandwagon.
After getting heat on Twitter for his comments, Mackie wrote on Twitter that he is not endorsing Trump for president. “Sorry Donald, that wasn’t an endorsement. Just a bad attempt at a joke, I guess?” he wrote.
