James Holmes, the Colorado movie theater shooter who was sentenced to life in prison, was reportedly attacked by another inmate who also attacked a corrections officer.
CNN reported a state corrections spokeswoman confirmed the alleged attack happened earlier this month where Holmes is held at the Colorado State Penitentiary.
Adrienne Jacobson with the Colorado Department of Corrections described the assault as “a very minor incident in passing in a hallway” and Holmes was not injured. However, the severity of the attack meant the inmate, 27-year-old Mark Daniels, would be charged with assault on both the officer and Holmes.
A letter allegedly written by Daniels said the attack happened Oct. 8, but corrections officials couldn’t give confirmation that he wrote it himself.
Daniels is in prison for charges related to auto theft and assault.
Holmes was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison for the 2012 shooting at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado.
12 people were killed in the attack and 70 people were wounded. Holmes was sentenced to 12 life terms for each person killed, including an additional 3,318 years.
