Billboard is getting a lot of backlash for a controversial tweet they posted about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s 2-year-old daughter, North West, which has forced them to apologize.
Early Friday morning, Billboard posted a now-deleted photo of North licking a lollipop while being held by her famous mom. The caption read, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree..."
The publication was then attacked by Twitter users for “sexualizing” an innocent toddler. The comment seemed to be referring to Kardashian’s sex tape with her ex, Ray J, which arguably shot her to international fame.
However, after Billboard deleted the tweet, they apologized and insisted the caption had to do with the story – not the photo.
“We apologize for the tweet involving North West. The caption was about her comments to paparazzi,” Billboard tweeted. “The suggestion some see was not intended.”
It seems the story about North’s “comments to the paparazzi” had to do with the video that went viral, showing her yelling at paparazzi, “I said no pictures!” It turns out it was just a poorly placed photo that accompanied the tweet.
