Bruno Mars is teaming up with Empire executive producer Brian Grazer to produce a music-based family comedy on NBC.
The show will also be written by Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Prentice Penny.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the show will focus on a boisterous and quarrelsome musical family in the Bronx that takes in their wide-eyed 10-year old relative and will likely incorporate some elements from Mars life.
The show is yet to be titled and Mars is one of several music artists to ink a television production deal this year. Nicki Minaj will be producing a sitcom for ABC as announced in September and Snoop Dogg said earlier this year he will be producing a show for HBO.
The LA Times reported Mars and Penny came up with the idea together and will produce alongside Imagine TV's Gracer and Francie Calfo in addition to Mars manager Brandon Creed.
The last couple years have brought Mars much success with winning Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammy's in January 2014, performing at the Super Bowl 48 halftime show a month later and the release of the mega hit "Uptown Funk" in November that hasn't stopped playing on radio stations since.
Rumor also has it that Mars is working on his third studio album and according to numerous reports he has been offered a spot for the Super Bowl 50 halftime show.
