CeeLo Green was one of the original coaches on The Voice, but the show has distanced itself from the singer in recent years after his felony drug case. Green is now ready to come back though, and has apologized for his actions.

Green, 41, spoke with The Associated Press this week and said that he is hoping to return to the hit NBC show, even though he knows it is a longshot.

“I've talked very possibly about doing The Voice again,” Green said. “So I just kind of put that out there, wishful thinking, kind of willing it. Because I would love to do it again.”

Green left the show’s roster of coaches permanently last summer and was replaced by Pharrell Williams. He was charged with giving a woman ecstasy in 2012 and pleaded no contest. He was sentenced to community service, which he just finished, and community service.

But that wasn’t the only controversy he faced. Green also went on a Twitter rant about rape, which ended with his TBS show getting cancelled. He did apologize, but it effectively stopped his career in its tracks.

“It was a very redefining moment in my personal and professional life,” Green told the AP. “I get in front of my creator, humbled, and I ask, 'What does this mean? What is this supposed to mean for me? What am I supposed to learn from it?' And (to) have that revealed and have it bestowed upon me is a blessing, of sorts.”

Green also said that his priority is getting back into the good graces of the music industry first before he can go back to television. He’s hoping to start that journey with Heart Blanche, which hits stores on Nov. 6.

“You're going to hear a revelation, an epiphany of new understanding and a new lease on life, personally and professionally, on this album,” Green told the AP.
