Seth MacFarlane is working on his follow-up to Ted, a Western comedy titled A Million Ways To Die. He may have found his female lead in Charlize Theron.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Theron is in the last stages of negotiations to star in the film, which could start production as soon as May.

Back in December, it was first reported that A Million Ways To Die could be MacFarlane's next project. The Oscars host is planning the movie as an homage to Western comedies like Mel Brooks’ classic Blazing Saddles. MacFarlane will star and co-write the film.

In the film, a cowardly farmer backs out of a gunfight and loses his girlfriend in the process. He then meets the wife of an outlaw, who helps him learn how to stand up to his enemies. That sounds like a good part for Theron, who displayed her comedy chops recently in Young Adult.

Ted went on to gross $500 million worldwide over the summer. Media Rights Capital, which financed that film, is also financing A Million Ways to Die.

Theron’s last films were Snow White and the Huntsman and Prometheus. She is currently developing a modern Hatfields & McCoys pilot at NBC.
