How I Met Your Mother fans are still rejoicing the confirmation of a ninth season, which will tie everything together and finally give fans what they’ve been looking for- the mother of Ted’s children.

Cobie Smolders, who plays Robin Scherbatsky on the CBS series, opened up about the decision of a ninth season to E! News explaining, “It's a tricky thing. There's a lot of people involved in a decision like that. But luckily everybody made the same one and came on board.”

Although the series was confirmed for a final season, it was questionable if Jason Segal would return. He was previously noted as the one questioning the purpose of a ninth season, as he was ready to move on from life as Marshall Erikson.

Segal realized that the cast was eager to tie up story lines the right way and eventually agreed with the group.

Continues she explains, “I sort of thought it was going to happen and then around the holidays when it started feeling like, 'Oh, it might not [happen],' it made me really sad. Because it's the end of an era and How I Met Your Mother has become like a second home to me. So it'll be nice starting season nine knowing this is it. Soak it in. Really be grateful and enjoy this last year."

Smolder’s isn’t giving off any secrets into the next season saying, “I don't really know their intention for next season. I know they've figured it out. I know they've figured out everything."

Confirmation of a ninth and final season was revealed Wednesday.

CBS' Nina Tassler expressed her desire to continue How I Met Your Mother during a press conference last year. The series will continue it's ninth and final run beginning fall 2013.
