The major food producer ConAgra announced Thursday that it will cut 1,500 jobs, outsource technology and back office positions when it moves to its headquarters in Illinois.

Reuters reported that the cuts come as the company is making the move from Omaha, Nebraska to Chicago and plans on reducing costs by around $300 million over the next few years. Roughly $200 million of that will come from the job cuts.

The Associated Press noted that the cuts represent about 30 percent of ConAgra’s office workforce.

"It is critical that we run as lean and as efficient and as effective as possible," ConAgra spokesman Jon Harris said.

The company added that most of the jobs cut will be eliminated positions or outsourced.

ConAgra is the maker of several products including Chef Boyardee, Slim Jim, Hebrew National hot dogs and Healthy Choice dinners.

The company previously said that the move to the Windy City will attract “top talent.” That move is scheduled to occur next summer.
