Five new songs with a special guest in the studio, Texan rocker Ben Kweller
The legendary Foo Fighters have recorded five new songs, revealed and confirmed Friday night at the Austin City Limits festival in Texas.
The temporarily-handicapped frontman Dave Grohl dropped the bomb at their headline set during the festival’s second weekend.
“You know what I did last night? We recorded five fucking new songs in your beautiful city of Austin, Texas,” Grohl yowled out to the audience. “We’re gonna give it to you…but not tonight.”
If that was not enough, he also let it slip that the Foo’s recorded with special guest singer-songwriter and local Texas-boy rocker Ben Kweller, who later joined the band onstage to duet on ‘Big Me.’
“Just by chance, I bumped into an old friend that I hadn’t seen in about 16 years,” Grohl said. “Right as I was recording a vocal, this motherfucker walks in—I’m like ‘Hey, man!’—and he starts fucking singing the most beautiful harmony to the thing I was singing. I was like, ‘Get your ass in the vocal booth right now.’”
