Fox is one step closer to guaranteeing full seasons for Grandfathered and The Grinder. The two star-studded comedies have both received orders for six more scripts.
Grandfathered stars John Stamos as a bachelor who suddenly has a son (Josh Peck) and a baby granddaughter and begins reconnecting with his son’s mother (Paget Brewster). In The Grinder, which is even more wild, Rob Lowe stars as a former legal show star who comes home to annoy his brother, played by Fred Savage.
While the ratings for the two shows haven’t been impressive, The Hollywood Reporter notes that both have been consistent since they debuted on Sept. 29. They are also at least doing better than the show Fox had at 8 p.m. on Tuesdays last year, the ill-fated Utopia reality show. (Yeah, we forgot about that one too.)
In addition to earning some pretty good reviews from critics, both shows have a very impressive line-up of guest stars coming up. Stamos’ former Full House co-stars, Dave Coulier and Bob Saget, will both appear on Grandfathered. The Grinder nabbed Christina Applegate for a guest spot.
Grandfathered and The Grinder air back-to-back on Fox Tuesdays, starting at 8 p.m. Hopefully, they both get to live past 13 episodes.
