Country star Garth Brooks has hit a setback in the production of his next album as he lost six months worth of music to a fried phone.

Brooks told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel “Here's where the old guy gets into technology, which is bad. All the new stuff which I've been working on for six months is on a phone that's been fried and I can't get the phone to come back up.”

The album was tentatively planned for release next year.

Brooks' wife, Trisha Yearwood, also told the paper that the couple was working on a Christmas album that is no longer likely to be ready for the holiday season.

All hope is not lost for Brooks fans however. Fox News reported that the singer is hopeful not all the material is lost and that he said he is "still working on that phone...we’ll get it.”

Brooks has come a long way since his first album debuted in 1989. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2012.

In the second half of 2014, Brooks set out on his first world tour in 13 years in promotion of his most recent album Man Against Machine. He and Yearwood also received side-by-side stars on the Music City Walk of Fame in September.
