When it came to performing with Shawn Mendes, Hailee Steinfeld was overcome by nerves and felt terrified.

MTV reported that the two came together to perform "Stitches" in front of a packed crowd at the iHeart Radio Music Festival and it was in that unique environment that Steinfeld was very nervous. “He’s one of my favorite artists and that’s one of my favorite songs,” said Steinfeld. “It’s hard when you admire something and someone. You want to do it justice.”

Mendes recognized that the Pitch Perfect 2 star seemed to be nervous before their performance and helped her through her uneasy feelings. "He’s like, 'Are you nervous?' and I’m like, 'I don’t know if I should say 'yes' because I’m about to go on and do this with you, but I’m completely terrified,” she said. “He’s so awesome, that was really such a blast.”

Mendes and Steinfeld recorded an acoustic duet of Mendes' hit "Stitches" a few months ago but the iHeart Radio Music Festival marked the second time that Steinfeld had performed in front of a live audience.

Her debut album is set to be released early next year.
